Talking about the rationale behind going after 2011 World Cup star Yuvraj, who failed to make the World Cup squad, Kirsten said the team were looking for a good, solid Indian player.
"Yuvraj for us, was an important pick. We needed a good, solid Indian player. We knew he'd be expensive and we expected to get him for something between 12 and 14 crore.
"We had a poor season last year and wanted to rebuild again. There weren't many big Indian batsmen up for grabs. Yuvraj is lucky that he is so sought-after," Kirsten added.
