After a series of rumors and leaks, Apple has finally launched its much anticipated device, iPhone 6. However, it was not limited to only one gadget as Apple did not fail to surprise and launched iPhone 6 plus. Apart from these two gadgets, Apple launched its own watch by the name Apple Watch. In this article you will get to know about everything which happened in the event and what all software’s were launched.
What is new in the Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus?
Design:
Apple is known for its design and has always been faithful to its sharp edges and flat sides design. However, this time the most visually noticeable change is in the design. Gone are the sharp edges. In the both versions of iPhone 6 you will find that Apple has gone for the iPad-mini like style with curved edges. The design has evolved, but it is using the same quality material on the device. The device has gone thinner too with iPhone 6 at 6.8 mm thick and iPhone 6 plus at 7.1mm thick. It is made of aluminum with tiny flashes of plastic on the back side of the phone. Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus has the fingerprint recognition technology. The power button and the volume button are same as before.
Display:
Apple has launched its iPhone 6 plus with a motto “bigger than bigger”, clearly indicating that Apple is ready to fight against its competitor in the display segment. IPhone 6 comes with a screen of 4.7 inches and a resolution of 750X1334 pixels, while iPhone 6 plus comes with a screen of 5.5 inches and have a resolution of 1080X1920 pixels. Pixel density is 326ppi and 401ppi respectively. Both the devices comes with Retina HD and claims to have a better technology which will give better and wider angle of view.
Interface:
Both the iPhones are running on iOS 8. New version looks cool on the visual side as it has retained the novel flat looks of iOS7.The biggest highlights of iOS 8 are the Health Hub and Apple Pay updated with passbook. The Health Hub basically aggregates data about your vitals from different gadgets including the iPhone and Apple Watch. We will discuss about the Apple Pay in the later part. Both iPhone acts as a replacement for your wallet as they both have NFC Chip. This feature can be used to pay in Starbucks, McDonalds, and many others franchises.
Memory and processor:
The much talked about thing in the new iPhones is Apple’s new A8 system chip. The Apple A8 system chip is 25% smaller than the A7 but still A8 has 2 billion transistors thus making Apple, the first company to get 20nm chips in mass production devices. A8 runs with a 64-bit enabled chip.
This time Apple has removed the concept of 32GB memory phones and both the models will be available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. Well there is again no option for micro SD cards.
Camera Quality:
No major changes have been done with the camera quality. Both the devices have nearly identical camera of 8MP with 1.5u pixels. However some changes are done in the terms of optics with a wider lens, f/2.2 aperture and sapphire cover. There is a new slow mode which allows you to capture a twice the frame-rate for a twice more pronounced effect: 720p at 240fps. iPhone 6 plus have optical image stabilization while iPhone 6 have digital stabilization.
Battery Backup:
Both the devices have got better battery then previous one. However iPhone 6 plus have better battery than iPhone 6.
Pricing:
There is not exact details on the pricing but iPhone 6 will cost around $649 in US and iPhone 6 plus will cost around $749 in US. Both the devices will launch in India on October 17.
