After announcing its plans for launching the 16GB variant in India, OnePlus has today made things official. The OnePlus One 16GB variant has been today launched in India with a price tag of Rs 18,999, and it will go on sale via Amazon India tomorrow.
The price tag is in line with what was reported over the weekend. As is the case with OnePlus’ smartphones, you will need an invite to buy the smartphone. Announcing the launch of the 16GB variant via a blog post, the company also clarified on the invite system.
In line with OnePlus’ famous invite system, Indian users will need an invite to purchase the Silk White One; the same invite may be used to purchase either the 16GB or 64GB version. OnePlus fans in India can visit OnePlus’ Indian Facebook page or the OnePlus Forum to participate in a contest to receive an invite today.
With the 16GB variant priced at Rs 18,999, and the 64GB variant priced at Rs 21,999, OnePlus has a big advantage over its immediate rival — Xiaomi. Xiaomi’s Mi 4 too is available in 16GB and 64GB variants, and at Rs 19,999 and Rs 23,999 is priced more than the One.
To recap on the specifications, the OnePlus One flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and is powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Additionally, it also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Cyanogen OS 11, but will soon be updated to the company’s Oxygen OS.
