Real Madrid are looking to restart negotiations with River Plate for 18-year-old goalkeeper Augusto Batalla.
The world and European champions previously attempted to sign the Argentina Under 20 international during the January transfer window but failed to convince the club to sell the talented shot stopper,
One of the reasons the move failed to materialise is that Batalla was set to play in the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship in January and February, which his side won, and is also expected to feature at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand in May.
Madrid will soon try to reopen negotiations and close the deal for next season, with talks expected to begin later this month and the Spanish club hopeful of having the deal wrapped up before the U20 World Cup begins.
The aim is for the Santiago Bernabeu side to bring Batalla on loan for one season with an option to buy him for around €5 million.
That figure could rise, however, depending on various clauses, and the player would be expected to move to the Castilla team initially, instead of Carlo Ancelotti's senior squad.
